The live-action film 'Look Back' will be holding an exclusive exhibition at the Harbour City Gallery from 5 to 27 September 2026, showcasing precious movie stills. Before the film's grand release in Hong Kong, immerse yourself in the world of manga creation as lived by the film's protagonists, 'Fujin' and 'Kyoto', and relive the emotion of chasing dreams. Presented by honourary subsidiary LEAP ENTERTAINMENT of MEDIALINK GROUP LIMITED, the live-action film 'Look Back' will be released in theatres across Hong Kong and Macau on 17 September.

Winner of the Hochi Film Award for Best Animated Feature and the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, the blockbuster animated film 'Look Back', adapted from the eponymous, phenomenal manga by genius manga artist Fujimoto Tsuki, will be remade into a live-action film directed, written, and edited by none other than Japan's national treasure, Kore-eda Hirokazu, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival with his film 'Shoplifters'. Japanese rising star Deguchi Saki, who impressed in the Netflix series 'Food Luck', and Maeda Ai, who previously collaborated with Kore-eda in 'The House of the Lost on the Cape', will respectively play the dual protagonists 'Fujin' and 'Kyoto'.

The live-action film 'Look Back' tells the heartfelt and moving coming-of-age story of two young girls with a shared passion for manga. 'Fujin' (Deguchi Saki) and 'Kyoto' (Maeda Ai) meet as young girls due to their sincere passion for manga and spend the next 13 years of their youth together. Kore-eda, with his signature character portrayal, delicately depicts the emotional changes of the two heroines as they grow up, infusing the work with sentiment and a sense of realism, and faithfully recreating many classic scenes that left a deep impression on fans of the original work. Even before its official release, the film has already been selected for the Main Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, vying for the Golden Lion. Both Fujin and Kyoto were elementary school students who loved drawing four-panel manga. Their shared passion for art brought them together, and they continued to create and improve their art side by side, driven by their pure enthusiasm for drawing. This deep obsession and perseverance accompanied them as they grew up, leading them into a broader world of creation.

In addition to displaying a series of precious stills, this film exhibition has specially invited five renowned local manga artists: Pen So, Don Mak, KIU, StepC. and Yut Pak Sze, to create their own unique four-panel manga inspired by the film's iconic style. The exhibition will also provide special edition four-panel manga paper for fans to try their hand at creating their own four-panel manga and drawing their own exclusive manga.
